It’s time for another carp rod review, and this time it’s the….
Fox Horizon X!!!
Actually an improvement in the original ‘Horizon’ series, so let’s get started!
Don’t miss: Greys prodigy gt4 review
The first thing we notice is how the rod is now completely ‘carbon wrapped’ – aimed at improving the strength of the blank.
The butt has 2k and the tip 1k – both wrapped diagonally, which certainly makes the rod stronger throughout.
So, when punching those heavy PVA bags – the 2k weave (on the butt) really helps with the power required and the tip providing a much faster recovery rate than previously.
Fox have made sure that the blanks are now much much lighter – which brings a nice balance to the rod making it comfortable to manoevure.
The original Horizon rods weren’t much to look at, and we’re pleased Fox have made these cosmetically good to look at!
Under the hood, FOX have packed some great features into the Horizon X. These include black fixing hoods, a Fuji 18mm reel seat and black Fox Slik Anti-Tangle guides that really give the Horizon X a modern look.

Regarding handle options, you can choose from an abbreviated handle, duplon handle or a traditional cork handle option.
A nice touch is the inclusion of a 50mm butt ring.
